EXTENDED LEADERSHIP ALIGNMENT
Normally, 6-8 weeks following a Leadership Alignment (L.A.) programme, we will support the same team in carrying out an “Extended Leadership Alignment” (ELA) programme with their direct reports (or extended team as they see it) in order to:
- Understand their levels of alignment, agreement, belief and readiness to own the strategic direction and execution as articulated by their executive team.
- Where there is misalignment, we will support the Executive team in exploring this with their extended team and as with the LA, guide the conversations to deliver solid and aligned actions that are centred on delivering what matters most to your customers/clients/partners.
For teams that are clear on their Strategic Direction and plan of Execution, and ideally teams who have already completed the LA programme, and wish to ‘Align’ their extended team(s) behind their Purpose, Strategic Direction and Execution in order to drive significant performance improvement.
See Leadership Alignment (LA) for details on the work already completed with the executive/senior team.
Normally, 6-8 weeks following a Leadership Alignment (L.A.) programme, we will support the same team in carrying out an “Extended Leadership Alignment” (ELA) programme with their direct reports (or extended team as they see it).
We are clear on the context already gathered for the LA programme and will further build on this through 1-2-1 conversations with the extended team during which we will understand their levels of Alignment, Agreement, Belief and Readiness to own the strategic direction and execution.
The facilitated conversation will, as per the LA, begin with important work with the foundations of success – the Trust, Relationships, Behaviours and team operating rhythm/Governance. We will work both within the extended team and also on the connections and relationships between the executive team and their extended team.
The 1-2-1’s carried out with the extended team will provide us with the insight to guide the detail of the intervention that follows. We will use our ‘traffic light’ system to pay particular attention to the areas that require greatest focus, such as what matters most (Values), plan and milestones etc.
The core difference in this product versus our LA is:
- Our consultant is here to facilitate the engagement of the two teams. This means that the executive team will be playing a very active leadership role.
- We are not here to “rediscover” the strategy, we are here to gain Alignment, Belief and Ownership and to work with any barriers to successful execution that might exist as a result of the behavioural dynamics and areas of misalignment.
If, for example, there is a misalignment (disagreement) around what matters most to our customers, we will facilitate a conversation and discovery that will be led by the relevant member(s) of the executive team.
We will, as with the LA programme, guide the conversations to deliver solid and aligned actions that are centred on delivering what matters most.
As for all of our Foundation Stones programmes, we offer and recommend you utilise our executive coaching capability to help support individuals facilitate and lead, not only the Extended Leadership Alignment (ELA) intervention, but will also equip those individuals to deal with the ongoing challenges of leadership within today’s business.
This is a natural and highly beneficial “next step” from the Leadership Alignment (LA) programme. This allows the executive team to provide alignment, clarity, support and leadership to their teams and provides for a level of Belief and Ownership that can be missing without this level of care and clarity. The success rate of execution is significantly greater as a result.
“Foundation Stones came up with three or four ‘game changers’ that will play an important role in achieving our five-year-plan”
